This guide keeps the look and feel of Aurium Wallet, but makes the instructions easier to follow. Start with the short version first, then scroll down for the deeper explanation of wallet types, swaps, buying Aurium, gasless swaps and sends, backup types, Aurium Spark links, settings, and how the wallet works under the hood.
If you save your private key or seed phrase as a readable .txt file and leave it on your phone, someone with access to the phone may be able to import your wallet.
Start here if you want the clean, easy version first.
New users should usually tap Create 12-word wallet. That gives you a recovery phrase plus the underlying wallet keys. Create random wallet is more advanced because it creates a wallet without a recovery phrase.
Your password protects the saved wallet profile on this device. It is important, but it is not the same as your real backup.
Save your 12 words or private key somewhere safe before you start sending or receiving. Do not skip this step.
Copy your wallet address and share it with the sender. Your address is public and safe to share.
Paste the destination address, enter the amount, review the details, then confirm. Start with a small test if you want extra peace of mind.
If your balance looks delayed, tap Refresh. Sometimes the wallet just needs to check the network again.
Use Swap to exchange supported assets, or open Buy Aurium when you want the dedicated AURI buying flow. Always review the quote and expected amount before approving.
For eligible swaps and token sends, Aurium can use a sponsored transaction path so you do not have to keep SOL just to pay network gas. The wallet shows the applicable fee before you approve.
This is the most important difference to understand before you create a wallet.
This creates a brand-new wallet from a newly generated private key only. It is valid and usable, but it does not give you a 12-word recovery phrase.
This creates a wallet from a generated 12-word recovery phrase. The wallet still has a private key under the hood, but you also get the easier human backup: the 12 words.
Aurium Wallet gives you more than one backup path. They do not all serve the same purpose.
This is the easiest human-readable long-term recovery backup for a mnemonic wallet. Write it down and store it safely.
This is the direct technical wallet secret. It can restore control of the wallet, but it is less friendly than a phrase for most new users.
Best when you want to move the secret into a secure place you already control. It does not leave a readable TXT file sitting on the phone.
Convenient, but readable. If that file stays on the phone, someone could import the wallet if they gain access to the device.
This is usually the safest file backup to leave on a phone compared with a plain TXT backup because it keeps the local vault profile encrypted. It does not store your password, and it does not expose your private key or 12 words in plain readable form.
Vault backup is a profile-level backup/restore convenience layer for migrations and local recovery of saved profiles. Think of it as a protected wallet-profile snapshot, not the same thing as your main human recovery backup.
First back up your 12 words or private key. After that, use encrypted backup JSON or vault backup as extra convenience layers.
A plain TXT file can be read immediately. An encrypted backup is harder to misuse because it protects the vault profile and does not keep your password in the file.
This part explains what the app is really doing when you create, unlock, send, receive, export, and restore.
The wallet generates or derives wallet secrets, then saves them into a local encrypted vault profile protected by your chosen password.
Your password unlocks the local profile on this device. It is for local access control, not the same as the recovery secret itself.
Importing tells the app who you are by restoring a wallet from a phrase, private key, encrypted backup JSON, or vault backup.
Your public wallet address is shared so funds can be sent in. The app then reads the network and displays the updated balances.
Sending means the wallet signs a transaction using your wallet secrets, then broadcasts it to the network.
Refresh asks the app to check the chain again, often through the active RPC connection or a fallback RPC if needed.
You do not have to leave your wallet just to trade. Aurium includes a full swap experience plus a dedicated Buy Aurium flow that can use your already-unlocked wallet to sign the transaction.
When an Aurium in-house route is available, the wallet can use it directly. The quote screen tells you the route being used so you can review it before signing.
When the market route is the appropriate path, Aurium can use Best Market Rate. The wallet still handles the connection and signing, while the route is assembled through the market swap flow.
MAX is designed to calculate the largest usable amount rather than blindly spending everything. Depending on the asset and route, Aurium may preserve a safety reserve or use a gasless sponsor when eligible.
On Solana, transactions normally need a small amount of SOL for network fees. Aurium can sponsor the network gas for eligible swaps and token sends so a low-SOL wallet does not automatically become stuck.
If your SOL balance is very low or empty, an eligible swap can use a sponsor-backed route instead of failing only because you do not have SOL for gas. This is especially useful when your value is already held in AURI or stablecoins and you simply want to swap without first finding SOL somewhere else.
If you are sending AURI or a supported stablecoin and do not have enough SOL for a normal token send, Aurium can automatically move to its sponsored-send path when eligible.
The biggest convenience is simple: you do not have to buy, transfer, or hunt down a tiny amount of SOL just to move tokens you already own.
Sponsored routes can reduce the need to keep SOL sitting unused only as a fee reserve. When the route supports it, more of your wallet balance can stay in the assets you actually want to hold.
Aurium shows the sponsored delivery mode and applicable fee information before the transaction is approved, so gasless is designed to be convenient without hiding the cost from you.
Aurium Spark turns a wallet gift into a shareable experience. Create a Spark, send the link to someone, and they can claim it through Aurium Wallet, awaken it, and reveal their reward.
Claiming the link is only the first part. A Spark becomes active when you complete its required Aurium Wallet action. This turns the Spark into an interactive reward rather than just a plain payment link.
When your Spark is activated and revealed, you can get Lucky. Lucky uses percentage-based odds and can upgrade your result to a better Spark reward than the standard outcome.
Spark is designed to keep the experience moving after your first claim. Activated Sparks can connect into the broader Spark experience and streak/reward loop inside Aurium.
These settings help shape how the wallet feels day to day.
These control the crystal-style audio feedback and lighting/hover effects. They change the feel of the wallet, not the security.
Safe mode adds extra friction and safety around sending so the wallet is less friendly to rushed mistakes or machine-like behavior.
Hides balance amounts on-screen for privacy when you do not want nearby people seeing what is in the wallet.
Locks the wallet after a chosen idle period. Set it shorter if other people may touch your device.
Helps you avoid spending down all SOL and accidentally leaving yourself without network fee room.
These control how often the app refreshes balances and price/ticker information.
Lets the wallet try backup network endpoints if the main RPC is slow or unavailable.
Quick unlock can speed up access for a saved profile on supported devices and browsers, so you do not always have to unlock the same way every time.
Profile slots let you keep more than one local saved profile and switch between them more easily.
On desktop builds you may also see settings like desktop notifications, minimize to tray, close to tray, and desktop clipboard hardening. These are convenience and privacy controls for the Windows/Desktop environment.
This area groups your sensitive actions together: export private key, export seed phrase, export encrypted backup, import backup, desktop backup vault, restore vault backup, and reset vault.
The answers below are short and practical.
Random wallet creates a private-key wallet only. 12-word wallet creates a wallet from a mnemonic phrase and still gives you the underlying wallet keys too.
Usually the 12-word wallet, because the recovery phrase is easier to back up and understand.
Encrypted backup JSON is safer than a readable TXT backup, because it protects the profile and does not keep your password or the secrets exposed in plain readable form.
It should not be your only backup plan. First back up your 12 words or private key elsewhere. Then use encrypted backup JSON as the extra layer.
Vault backup is mainly for saving and restoring the local encrypted profile more easily. It is useful for migration and local recovery convenience.
Do not leave readable TXT backups of your private key or 12 words on the phone. Use copy-only, or move the TXT file off the phone immediately.
If you did not back up the wallet first, you may lose access. Always make your real recovery backup before changing devices or reinstalling.
Open Swap, choose the asset you are swapping from and the asset you want to receive, enter the amount or use MAX, get a quote, review the route and fees, then approve the swap. Aurium confirms it on-chain before the completed result is treated as final.
Open the Buy tab while your wallet is unlocked. The embedded Buy Aurium page can use the same wallet to connect and sign. Enter the SOL amount you want to use, review the expected AURI, approve the transaction, then wait for confirmation.
A gasless swap uses an eligible sponsor-backed route so the Solana network gas does not have to come from your wallet's SOL balance. This can let a low-SOL or zero-SOL wallet keep swapping when sponsorship is available. Normal swap or service fees can still apply.
For AURI and supported stablecoins, Aurium can use a sponsor to pay the Solana network cost when your SOL is too low for a normal send. The wallet can show 0 SOL from your wallet for gas, while a sponsor fee is charged in AURI and displayed before approval. Gasless sponsored send does not apply to sending SOL itself.
Aurium Spark is a shareable gift/invite link. Someone can send you a Spark link, you claim it through Aurium Wallet, awaken it by completing the required wallet action, and then reveal the reward.
Lucky is the Spark's percentage-based upgrade chance. When the Spark is activated and revealed, getting Lucky can give you a better Spark reward than the standard result.
Because the app has to ask the network for the latest balance and transaction state. RPC delay can make the screen feel behind for a moment.
